Finally an update!!!?!?!

We can't believe it is February already!! We had a great Christmas with all the kids that could be here!! Only one missing was Josh and we all missed him but we still enjoyed a long telephone call to Brazil.

We can't believe all these little kids were here!! It was so much fun!!

For more pictures of the festivities, you can click on their individual links to their blogs to the right and see a lot more pictures of the 3 weeks Ben was here, the 2 weeks Jacob was here, and the week Becky was here.

It was a great holiday season!

Before we knew it, we had to send Ben back to England on the 8th of January out of the deep freeze of Colorado. We haven't warmed up much yet!!

Roger was notified on January 11th that he was the first selection for a Financial Analyst position at Hanscom AFB, Massachusetts. Hanscom AFB is about 25 miles northwest of Boston. It is a significant promotion and a great career opportunity. So early on January 31st we left the Pikes Peak Region and jetted off to Boston for expeditionary journey to see if we felt like we could live there for a few years.

It seemed like an all day trip with changing planes in Denver but before we knew it we were flying over the Atlantic Ocean and Boston Harbor on approach to Logan International Airport. First time for Marty seeing the Atlantic Ocean.
Our short adventure was about to really begin!

Besides driving around the Lexington, Bedford, Lowell, Concord areas of Massachusetts and the Nashua, Hudson areas of New Hampshire to get a feel for what may be in store for us, we did some touristy stuff.

Here's our self portrait at Salisbury Beach in Massachusetts. First time for Marty seeing the Atlantic Ocean on the ground. It really wasn't as cold as it may look in this picture. Marty says, "Yes it was!!!"

Saturday we made our way into Boston. It was a pretty day. No snow on the ground to speak of and there were lots of people out in the parks.

We made a few u-turns to go the right-way on the one-streets but we got to see several different areas of Boston.

Our destination was Cheers and we made it!!!!!!
It looks just like it did on TV.

Even the people walking down the steps on the outside to go in. The inside was smaller than the set for the TV show but there is another Cheers in Boston that has the replica of that set.
We had a really good lunch. We were kind of hoping Norm, Sam, Diane, or Cliff would stop in while we were there but no such luck!! We asked for Carla to be our waitress but it wasn't her shift......yeh right!?!?!

We had a lot of fun there and eveyone was getting ready for the Super Bowl------we know how that turned out now.

We left Cheers and to make our way out of Boston back to Chelmsford where we were staying.

On Monday we headed towards Rhode Island because Marty had met someone that comutes to Hanscom AFB from near Providence. By this time, there was a dark cloud depression hanging over New England. Even Gillette stadium in Foxboro was weeping over the Super Bowl loss.
Before we got to Providence we decide that all the areas were beginning to look the same so we took a detour to Plymouth Rock.
This is it...the real McCoy.....not real big but the town of Plymouth is a nice little colonial town rich in history.

This is where Plymouth Rock is housed. Yes, it was pretty much as cold that day as it looks here.
Roger is still waiting to receive the official offer from the Air Force Personnel Center. It appears they are about 6 weeks behind from when the selection was made. He was selected on January 11th. We expect to receive the tentative offer soon. We will keep you all posted!!
